The operators of Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant say efforts to mitigate the oil spill in the Hudson River are continuing following this month's transformer fire.
Entergy released a statement saying that about 3,000 gallons of "di-electric" fluid entered the Hudson River after the May 9 incident. The company says that its personnel continue to work with the U.S. Coast Guard and state Department of Environmental Conservation to investigate the impact of the spill.
According to Entergy, crews have observed 25 locations where the oil sheen can be seen in the river and have implemented mitigation efforts.
Entergy also reports that engineers are working to restore Indian Point Unit 3 to safe operations, and Unit 2 continues to operate at full power.
