Westchester County police are beefing up efforts to stop drag racers and people who speed.
The crackdown is part of a month-long tri-state campaign to cut down on speeding called "Obey the Signs or Pay the Fines." In a news conference Tuesday, police showed the effort was also to catch drag racers. Police played a video of a street race on the Saw Mill River Parkway where three were arrested for reckless endangerment and both cars were impounded. Officials say drag racing is common on the Saw Mill and Hutchinson parkways in the early morning hours.
Since June 30, county police have issued 236 speeding tickets.
