It was meant to bring laughs, but instead it drew the ire of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
West Hempstead resident Seth Bykofsky says he received an order in the mail from the DMV to revoke his custom license plate, "PB4WEGO" (pee before we go), because it was deemed inappropriate.
"My grandchildren, who when they look at the plate, they figure out what it says, they laugh hysterically," Bykofsky said. "Almost to the point where I have to tell them, 'Stop laughing because you might have to pee before you go.'"
Bykofsky says he had the plates for a year and never received any complaints.
The DMV tells News 12 that they review all personalized license plates and offer free replacements for any they take off the roads.
"As part of the NYS DMV's ongoing and rigorous screening process, the agency recently completed a review of all personalized license plates currently on the road to assess compliance with the NYS Commissioner Rules and Regulations," the DMV said in a statement. "All plates that are no longer in compliance have been removed from the road and replaced with standard plates."
The DMV says it has pulled 1,130 custom plates statewide.
