Longtime WCBS reporter John Slattery was laid to rest Tuesday after his funeral at Saints John and Paul Church in Larchmont.
Slattery died of a heart attack in his New Rochelle home last week at the age of 63.
Slattery's WCBS coworkers described him as a fearless journalist. Reporter Lou Young called him "intense and uncompromising."
"John was a special man. There's no words [to] describe what a great individual he was," says WCBS anchor Kristine Johnson. Slattery had worked in the New York news market for three decades and was one of the first reporters on the scene after the terror attacks on 9/11.
Slattery was buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla after the funeral.
