The deep freeze is causing big problems for water mains in Cortlandt, with crews working around the clock to repair multiple breaks.

Crews had to return to Lakeview Avenue West this morning after fixing a break in a different spot yesterday.
The cold weather is not only affecting the pipes, but also the equipment, with the back trap door on a dump truck freezing shut. Crews had to bring in another one in order to drop dirt into the hole they dug for the busted pipe.
Residents are advised to have bottled water on hand in case of a break in their neighborhood, as the extreme cold is expected to continue for several more days.
