Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity are doing what they can to make life a little more comfortable for the dozens of people who were displaced in a Peekskill fire last month.

About 100 people from 21 different families were affected by the fire that tore through an apartment complex on Freemont Avenue.

Habitat for Humanity of Westchester volunteers have been working tirelessly at a warehouse in Peekskill to provide furniture, beds, school supplies and clothing for displaced families

Jim Killoran, the CEO of Westchester Habitat for Humanity, will be at the warehouse through the week, helping families and hoping that through the kindness of strangers donating their goods, they'll be able to begin to rebuild their lives.

"People might be on vacation. If you could sacrifice something - maybe that extra movie or ice cream - it all adds up," Killoran says.
