Mourners gathered in Scarsdale today to say a final goodbye to a father who died in a wrong-way crash last week.

Hundreds of family members and friends attended funeral services at Shaarei Tikvah for 57-year old Jordan Wachtell, who died in Thursday night's crash on I-287.

Police say Wachtell and 17-year-old Eric Goldberg, both from Ardsley, were killed when they were hit by 50-year-old Jamie Paucar. Goldberg was laid to rest on Sunday.

Two other passengers in their car, 17-year-old Preston Mitchell and 17-year-old Jack Rosen, were taken to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries.

Ardsley school officials say Wachtell was driving the teens to a basketball event not hosted by the school when the accident happened.

State police say Paucar got on I-287 east at exit 10 in Harrison and traveled two and a half miles before the crash with a BMW driven by Wachtell. Paucar’s vehicle did not hit any other vehicles while traveling the wrong way on I-287.

Investigators are still working to find out where Paucar was prior to getting on the highway and also are awaiting the results of toxicology reports. Paucar remains in serious condition at Westchester Medical Center.

State police confirm that all the passengers, even the ones in the back seats, were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

No charges have been filed yet.
