A tractor-trailer fire on the southbound New York State Thruway before the Mario Cuomo Bridge in Nyack has snarled traffic near Exit 11.

The fire involved a large Costco 18‑wheeler around 3:30 a.m. The right and center lanes are closed as emergency crews work at the scene.

Traffic heading toward the bridge was nearly stopped as backups grew in dense fog that made it difficult for drivers to see. Many cars moved with hazard lights on as they approached the shutdown.

Crews were working to bring in a large tow truck to remove the tractor trailer.

Northbound traffic moving but slowed as drivers pass the scene.
