A high school student accused of setting a subway rider on fire in New York City is facing federal arson charges.
Officials say 18-year-old Hiram Carrero ignited a piece of paper and dropped it near the sleeping 56-year-old victim on Monday.
The man stumbled to the platform at the next stop. Surveillance images show his legs and torse on fire.
Police extinguished the flames, and the man was hospitalized in critical condition.
Authorities arrested Carrero on Thursday.
