Mount Vernon police say they arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 68-year-old man on Friday morning.
Detectives say it happened at 8:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Stevens Avenue.
Police say they received a call reporting a menacing incident at the location. Responding officers found the suspect and the victim with a stab wound inside the home.
The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition where he later died.
Officers on the scene arrested 32-year-old Astillo Sylvain, who authorities say lived at the same location as the victim.
Sylvain was charged with manslaughter in the first degree.
The circumstances that led to the stabbing were not immediately known as of Saturday night.
