Black Friday shopping will be different due to COVID-19 and supply chain issues, but there will still be ways to snag good deals safely.
Investopedia Editor-in-Chief Caleb Silver says there will be shortages of goods and price increases due to continuing supply chain issues.
Silver says some retailers, including JCPenney and BJ’s, are trying to adjust this year by announcing deals earlier than usual.
“Every year they start a little bit earlier,” Silver says. “This year there’s a reason, they know there’s going to be a crunch, and they know they’re going to run out of products.”
Some of the hottest ticket items will be electronics like laptops and televisions. Retailers such as Best Buy will not be open on Thanksgiving so the deals can be caught from your home.
The National Retail Federation is estimating online sales are going to be up 8-10% to an all-time record.
Silver urges those looking for a good deal to create a specific list and put in their orders in as soon as possible.
