‘Student Vaccination Days’ aim to stave off COVID-19 before start of school
Nassau County is encouraging parents to bring their children ages 12 and older to Kennedy Memorial Park in Hempstead to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Student Vaccination Days will
run until the end of the month. The Pfizer shot is on site.

"Schools are going to open in September. We really want
our young people to have as normal a school experience as possible, and getting
young people vaccinated 12 and over is incredibly important. It's available,
it's free," said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran last week.
There is no appointment needed for the shots.
On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo allocated $15 million to
community groups to zero in on 117 ZIP codes that are lagging in vaccination
rates. Twenty-one of those ZIP codes are on Long Island – that includes parts
of Hempstead.
