State police say they were called to the United Talmudical Academy in the Town of Palm Tree on Friday by a 13-year-old boy who said his teacher hit him in class.

In October, News 12 obtained a leaked video of a 2016 incident, where a teacher was recorded kicking a yeshiva student under a desk at a private school in Monsey.

The video struck a nerve with many former yeshiva students. Several of them came forward with their own experiences of alleged abuse growing up in school.

While corporal punishment may not be something new, survivors and Jewish education activists say this is the first time victims, in an intensely private community, are coming forward.

New York law allows corporal punishment in private schools.

As for the most recent alleged case in Palm Tree, state police say Kiryas Joel Public Safety, which has not returned calls to News 12, are handling the investigation.

There is no word either from the school.
