A somber day in Carmel as family and friends gathered to remember Putnam County Court Officer Kieran O'Hagan.

He passed away in January after a battle with cancer.

O'Hagan served as a court officer for more than 20 years and also worked as a dispatcher for the county sheriff's office.

"He loved being a court officer. He was very dedicated to his job," said close friend Robert Cullen. "He was just an overall great funny guy. He would do anything for you."

The department holds a ceremony each year to honor members of the force who have passed away. The tradition began in 2020 during the pandemic.
