Close to 170 runners and walkers of all ages gathered Tuesday at the fourth annual “Honor Our Veterans” 5K or two-mile walk in Westport.
"For our veterans who are experiencing homelessness, hunger and mental health challenges – this just means the world to them. It's acknowledging them, raising money to help us support them and meet their needs," said Vince Santilli with Homes for the Brave.
Rep. Jim Himes was at the event and said Homes for the Brave “is doing amazing work.”
The event's inclusive nature welcomes participants of all ages and abilities and emphasizes the dedication to ensuring no veteran is left behind.
"Expenses are just tremendous and yet…we're vigorously raising funds with events such as this. What an incredible way to celebrate Veterans Day," said Santilli.
All proceeds directly benefit Homes for the Brave.
On Nov. 24, Gov. Ned Lamont will help celebrate the grand reopening of the Homes for the Brave headquarters in Bridgeport.
