The Rockland County Highway Department spent Tuesday preparing for snow in the forecast.
As News 12 has reported, meteorologists predict up to 8 inches Wednesday in some parts of the Hudson Valley.
Superintendent Charles "Skip" Vezzetti says his department is prepared to keep the roads clear.
"We pre-treated all of our roads with salt brine, especially the hills and curves," he says.
Crews also spent the beginning of the week loading trucks so road crews can deploy as soon as they need to.
They're also using new technology to help save money by mixing salt and magnesium chloride, then spreading it carefully over the road.
"No loss of salt, none bouncing into people’s lawns, and we've cut our salt usage by 50 percent over the years," Vezzetti says.
