Frustration is growing in Hartsdale over a sewer main break in May 2024 – but town leaders say relief could finally be in sight.
Cones and construction equipment have been on East Hartsdale Avenue since the break. That's because repairs are still in the works.
"It has been like that for months and months and months," says Hartsdale resident Ingrid Madera.
People who live and work nearby say walking through the area has been difficult.
"The biggest lane of the through traffic that is being cut off is right in front of my building, there is no place to park. In the summer, it smelled like sewage," Bryan Joiner tells News 12.
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner says he gets it – but he says repairing this sewer pipe is tricky.
"Some of the pipes are under the buildings so we have to be careful when we make the repairs that it's done correctly. We don't want to have any structural damage," Feiner explains.
They're hoping work can ramp up after mid-March. The goal is to wrap things up within a couple months.
