A Putnam County doctor has pleaded guilty to using anesthesia to sexually assault a woman. 60-year-old Paul Giacopelli admitted to giving the victim anesthesia without her knowledge and sexually assaulting her while she was under.
The incident occurred last December, and the doctor knew the victim.
As part of a plea deal, Giacopelli faces:
Four years in prison
Three to 10 years of post-release supervision
Registration as a sex offender
Giacopelli, who worked at Putnam Hospital Center, has had his medical license suspended. His attorney has not yet commented, and sentencing is expected in November.
