An Ocean Gate woman is facing charges in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says 32-year-old Jenna O’Connor was charged after tests found the child had methadone in her system.

Officials say O’Connor called 911 on July 17 after finding her daughter unresponsive in her crib.

The girl was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and died on July 21.

Officials say that O’Connor was at home and was responsible for caring for the child at the time. They say that the child had access to methadone in the home.

O’Connor was taken into custody and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The prosecutor says that additional charges “may be forthcoming.”
