Two adults and a teenager are facing charges for allegedly starving a pair of 2-month-old twins, causing one of the babies to die.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office says that Joy Wilson, 36, Sharode Snell, 22, and a 17-year-old, all of Lindenwold, have each been charged with one count of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and other charges.
Authorities say that police were called the La Cascata Apartments in Lindenwold on July 8, 2019, for reports of an unresponsive infant. The child was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
The other baby was also admitted to the hospital after doctors found that the child was severely underweight and had head injuries.
An autopsy on the first baby determined that it was the victim of a homicide.
“This is one of those tragic cases that you can hardly believe when you learn the suffering these two babies went through,” prosecutor Jill Mayer said in a statement.
Wilson was arrested in Lindenwold on Nov. 19. Snell and the 17-year-old were arrested in North Carolina by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Nov. 23.
