Police: Man charged with attempted murder after random stabbing at BJ's Wholesale Club

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Jared Alongi. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the second degree.

A man is in custody for allegedly trying to kill someone in Yorktown Heights.
Yorktown police say it happened in broad daylight around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of BJ's Wholesale Club at 3303 Crompond Road. The victim was leaving the store when he was randomly attacked. Several officers quickly responded to the scene, where they saw the suspect running away with a large kitchen knife.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Jared Alongi. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the second degree. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail, and will appear in Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday.
Police tell News 12 that temporary orders of protection were issued to protect the victim and the witness in this incident.
The victim declined to go the hospital. A possible motive for the stabbing has not been released.
