Paterson kicks off holiday season with annual tree lighting ceremony

The City of Paterson has kicked off the holiday season Saturday with its annual tree lighting ceremony at City Hall.
Due to COVID-19 protocols last year, the event went on with no spectators. This year, Paterson residents were back on Market Street to watch the lighting just in time for Small Business Saturday.
"We want to give our downtown small businesses an extra boost, because last year they suffered,” says Mayor Andre Sayegh.
Sayegh says 94% of residents in the city are vaccinated and credits city officials for being able to bring the vaccine directly to the public.
A concert, ice skating and a visit from Santa Claus also took place at the tree lighting.
