Orangetown is holding a virtual 5K where racers are urged to practice social distancing.
The event called "Where Community Comes Together Even When We Are Apart" allows runners to get their miles in anywhere at any time.
Proceeds raised during the 5K will be going to local pantries.
"It's helping stock food pantries and people in need could really use it," says Grace Hodges. "Especially in times like these."
Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny says she is encouraging everybody to "get out there and do what they can."
People are free to run or walk and times won't be recorded.
So far about 200 runners have signed up and around $9,500 has been raised.
The race ends Sunday with an online concert by the Russo Brothers.
Those who still want to register can do so here.
