Secret Service says suspect opened fire on them and was shot in exchange near Washington Monument

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning in Sheepshead Bay, according to police.

Authorities say it happened around 2:30 a.m. at 3102 Ave. W.

Officers at the scene found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was sent to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Vincent Idlett.

One person of interest is in police custody.
