Two NYPD officers are in the hospital after a traffic stop turned into a car chase that ended in a crash.

Police say the driver hit two separate police cars, starting with a traffic stop at West 183rd St. and Aqueduct Ave.

It ended on East Fordham Road with a crash involving that vehicle and a cop car.

According to the NYPD, this happened Thursday night just before 10:30 p.m., when they tried to pull over the Mercedes.

They say the driver took off and struck that police vehicle. Officers lost sight of the car but found it again on East Fordham Road, where it collided with another cop car.

Crystal who is in the area often says this type of violence shouldn't happen.

"I mean it's bad for the officers of course and our neighborhood we look bad, it's a terrible thing," she says.

A 35-year-old was taken into custody, and the two cops went to a local area hospital and are expected to recover.
