Nicole Hines will become the NAACP Mid-Hudson/Westchester Regional Director in January 2026.
Hines will oversee a dozen branches.
She has spent several years as president of the Nyack Branch.
"I'm just excited and ready to get to work," said Hines in a sit-down interview with News 12 on Thursday. "And carry on the mission of the NAACP."
She says she will first meet with all branch presidents to better understand their needs and concerns and help them by following the NAACP's constitution.
"Because of the administration that we're in now and because of the new things that are happening in the communities, how can we navigate around those things to make sure we're really supporting the communities that we serve," said Hines.
"I think she will be excellent," said Wilbur Aldridge, who holds that position for nearly three decades.
As News 12 reported, Aldridge announced last month that he would be stepping down at the end of this year.
He believes she's ready for the job and adds she has been shadowing him for the last few months.
Hines says she will continue serving as the president of the Nyack NAACP.
