The Pelham Bay Park train station in the Bronx received recent improvements that the Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Transportation Authority are calling a "major achievement for commuters."
The Pelham Bay Park station, serving as a major transit hub for commuters in City Island and Co-Op City, received a new concrete space for commuters and a newly painted bus lane.
The ribbon-cutting solidified the changes elected officials say they know commuters will look forward to, especially with congestion in the area where there are a lot of businesses and foot traffic.
The DOT and MTA say the changes will help thousands of riders and save commuters about 2 1/2 minutes per day.
Elected officials say the changes ensure a cleaner and safer commute, and that even more changes are on the horizon.
