There are new details about the allegations against a taxi driver who allegedly attacked a passenger earlier this month in a complaint obtained by News 12.
It accuses 22-year-old Kevin Mazariego-Figueroa of Ramapo, an America Latina Taxi driver, of restraining her as she tried to exit the car saying, "You are not going to leave because I am going to kill you." The driver is then accused of cutting the woman's face, stabbing her in the stomach with a screwdriver, strangling her and stealing $3,000 she had in an envelope.
As News 12 has reported, Spring Valley police said the woman was able to escape and call for help.
Mazariego-Figueroa faces charges including kidnapping, robbery and strangulation.
Police told News 12 the victim and taxi driver did not know each other.
AAA says passengers should always take a taxi or rideshare company they know and trust. Additionally, anyone taking one alone can call a friend and stay on the phone.
News 12 did not hear back from America Latina Taxi for comment.
