Million Gallon challenge provides food security for laid-off food service workers

Food industry leaders are stepping in to help laid-off food service workers waiting for business to return to normal. 
A team of restaurateurs cooked up a soup plan to save the service industry. The group plans to make a million gallons of soup, which will be frozen and distributed to service workers now out of the job in Westchester County. 
Among those leading the effort is Louie Lanza, who closed six of his restaurants last weekend. 
The initiative is in need of people to cook and people to donate. 
“If you have a cooking facility that can-do large quantities, we are going to connect you with those raw materials and then ultimately we will connect everyone with distribution,” says Lanza.
