The Westchester medical examiner has confirmed the body found in a preserve in New Castle is that of a missing Armonk man.

The body of Miles Applebaum, 21, was discovered in the Glazier Preserve at around 6 p.m. Thursday by a park ranger.

Applebaum left for work Monday morning, but never returned home for dinner.

Applebaum's parents along with family and friends held a candlelight vigil at the Wampus Brook Park in Armonk Thursday night hoping for his safe return. His car had been discovered Wednesday evening at the Glazier Preserve where several police agencies conducted a search.

Applebaum, a junior at Temple University in Philadelphia, was home on medical leave. Family members say he was suffering from severe depression, and his father described him as suicidal. Back in April, Applebaum stopped his car on the Tappan Zee Bridge, climbed over the railing and tried to jump, but several good Samaritans stopped and were able to pull him back over.
The medical examiner says a cause of death has yet to be determined, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
