A Bronx man is facing manslaughter charges in connection with a hit-and-run in New Rochelle Saturday.
According to police, 39-year-old Delroy Johnson, of the Bronx, was having a heated argument over money with 28-year-old Tracy Williams, of New Rochelle, in a car on Remington Place around 1:45 a.m. Police say somehow Williams was forced out of the car and Johnson took off, with Williams hanging on the hood. Police say Johnson lost control of the car, sideswiping vehicles on the street. Detectives say he crashed into a minivan, pinning Williams between the two cars. Williams died a short time later at the hospital.
Meantime, Johnson panicked and took off on foot with no shoes or shirt on. Police say he tried to break into a home on Harmon Avenue, but the house alarm went off. Johnson was apprehended by police and faces not only burglary charges, but also the more serious manslaughter charges in connection with the fatal accident.
