In a historic turn of events, Democrat Anthony Parisi is poised to become the District Attorney of Dutchess County, marking the first time in decades that a Democrat will hold the position.

Parisi received almost 35,000 votes, surpassing Republican Matthew Weishaupt, who garnered more than 32,000 votes.

Both candidates currently serve as prosecutors, with Weishaupt serving as the current Chief Assistant D.A. and Parisi as the Major Crimes Bureau Chief.

This election marked a historic transition, as the current District Attorney, William Grady, chose not to seek reelection after 40 years in office.
