High gas prices not stopping New Yorkers from traveling on Memorial Day weekend

AAA is estimating a 161% increase in normal volume on Long Island highways despite gas costing nearly $5.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.96 on Long Island, and energy experts say they could stay that way for a while.
"It's going to be ugly for another six months, maybe 12 months, hopefully then it's going to come down," says Jay Young, an energy analyst.
Some drivers heading out east say they'll limit driving whenever possible this weekend but are still planning to travel.
AAA says there will be the least amount of traffic before 7 a.m. or after 9 p.m.
They say an estimated 4.2 million drivers will be using New York City bridges and tunnels this weekend.
Despite high ticket prices, air travel is also expected to be high in the tri-state area. New Jersey and New York airports will see an estimated 2.1 million passengers, according to the Port Authority.
