Hempstead man sentenced to 12 years for sex trafficking teen recruited on social media
Prosecutors say Reid first contacted the girl on Instagram when she was 14.

A 46‑year‑old Hempstead man who plead guilty to sex trafficking a 15-year-old has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Terrence Reid recruited the victim through social media and forced her into sex acts for money, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
Prosecutors say Reid first contacted the girl on Instagram when she was 14, and they messaged back and forth over several days. The teenager was experiencing problems at home and in May 2023, agreed to meet Reid.
Reid picked her up outside her aunt’s Brooklyn home.
Prosecutors say Reid took her to a hotel in East Orange, New Jersey, where he photographed her semi-nude. Those images were posted on a prostitution website alongside photos of an adult woman who was also working for him.
Reid then drove both victims to what Gonzalez described as a “prostitution street track” along Pennsylvania Avenue, forcing them to solicit clients overnight until about 7 a.m.
For several days, the 15‑year‑old was made to engage in sex for money while walking the so‑called “Penn Track.” Reid imposed a $300‑a‑day quota and threatened "it would be a problem” if she didn't meet it.
The girl eventually escaped from a Queens hotel room where Reid had been keeping her while he slept. She got a taxi and reported the abuse to her caseworker.
When Reid gets out of prison he must register as a sex offender.
