Heat has finally been restored at a Yonkers apartment building that had gone without for two weeks.

Some residents who live at 7383 Highland Ave. suffered through the cold and stayed home. Others stayed at a hotel, paid for by their landlord.

Yonkers city building inspectors and out-of-state contractors are looking at long-term fixes. They say the culprit is a circulation problem.

The tenant association of the 129-unit low-income apartment building says the landlord, Israel Roizman, is now promising to credit tenants two months' worth of rent and utility bills. He is also planning to reimburse food expenses incurred while staying at the hotel.

According to the Yonkers City Clerk's Office, Roizman does not have any prior citations. He's been cooperating with city inspectors, provided tenants with space heaters and brought in outside experts to help fix the problem.

He's due in Yonkers City Court Friday to face summonses.

Tenants who stayed in hotels and are requesting reimbursements for food costs are asked to save their receipts.
