Guide: Christmas Tree Farms on Long Island
Looking for the perfect tree this holiday season? Here is a list of Christmas tree farms across Long Island.
Please check with each farm as schedules may have changed as a result of COVID-19. Please follow CDC and LI COV-19 guidelines, including wearing face masks and social distancing.
Before heading to the farm, you should know what type of Christmas tree you are looking for. There are a variety of trees including:
Blue Spruce – a distinctive blue-green color with short, pointy needles.
White Spruce – greener than a Blue Spruce and has short pointy needles.
Norway Spruce – bright green needles and softer compared to other Spruces.
Concolor Firs – known for their scent, this tree has long soft needles with a lighter color underneath.
Fraser Firs – typically not found on Long Island because of the weather. However, they are a dark green-blue color and the needles point upward.
Douglas Fir – one of the most popular Christmas trees, it is typically very full.
Balsam Fir – full and dark green coloring with a slim top, it is similar to the Fraser Firs.
Canaan Fir – Similar to Fraser and Balsam Firs with a dark green coloring, full and slim on top.
White Pine – strong branches and has a bushy look compared to Spruces and Firs.
*Firs typically last longer than Spruces and have a pine-like scent.
