Gov. Murphy says he’s very happy by early-voter turnout ahead of Election Day

The governor said that he is happy that many people in the Garden State are going out to make their voices heard.

Election Day is less than a week away, and New Jersey voters are already headed out to the polls with early voting breaking records.

News 12 caught up with Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday to discuss the voting process. The governor said that he is happy that many people in the Garden State are going out to make their voices heard.

“We have over 500,000 early votes and that’s through only four days, so we broke the record on Sunday on Day 2. And I don’t know if it’s a statement about one party’s prospects or another, but it is a statement that people are voting and I think that’s a huge, positive statement,” Murphy said.

The governor said there are also more than 600,000 vote-by-mail ballots turned in.
