Gov. Hochul reveals renovation plan for historic library during Harlem Week visit

A Harlem Week celebration came with an unexpected surprise Wednesday, as Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a multimillion-dollar plan to renovate and preserve a historic local library.
The Schomburg Library for Research in Black Culture will be the focus of an $8 million grant, according to the governor.
It was named a national historic landmark in 2017 and has been home to over 11 million historic objects from people of African descent.
The governor says this shows New York's arts and cultural centers are alive and strong post-pandemic.
