Dozens of girls are getting the chance to learn about a career in aviation at Westchester County Airport.

Michelle Judice, the president of Women in Aviation Westchester, called the industry “male-dominated” and said it was “very important” to expose young women to aviation careers at a young age.

Women in Aviation is a national nonprofit. The Westchester chapter started earlier this year. Judice has been a pilot for 12 years.

"We just started because a group of women thought it would be a great idea to bring women together in the industry, inspire them, encourage them, empower them," she told News 12.

Among the girls attending the event are the Girl Scouts and members of the White Plains Youth Bureau.

Presenters will talk about their careers and there will be a flight simulator so the girls can see how it feels to fly.
