A former Rockland County real estate agent has pleaded guilty to forging a woman’s signature in order to steal her home, according to the state attorney general.
Authorities say Oscar Dias admitted to forging the signature while the home was in foreclosure.
It is the first conviction under New York’s Home Equity Theft Protection Act, which is designed to safeguard homeowners in foreclosure.
Authorities say Dias will pay restitution, and the original owner will get her deed back.
