Lake Mohegan became the site of a first on Tuesday as the Lake Mohegan Fire Department was fully staffed with an all‑female crew.
Department leaders said the team represents progress as women now make up nearly 10% of the ranks.
They also said the department has the most career female firefighters in Westchester County.
A photo shared on social media showed the three women who took part in the milestone.
Department leaders said they want young girls to know that becoming a firefighter is possible and that women can thrive in a field traditionally dominated by men.
