Family mourns Bronx man fatally stabbed in Brooklyn

Family members and loved ones are grieving the loss of a Bronx man who police say was fatally stabbed in Brooklyn.
Two candles burned at a vigil honoring 47-year-old Kenneth Brewer at the same location where investigators say he was stabbed inside 181 Rockaway Parkway around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
First responders rushed Brewer to a nearby hospital with a stab wound to the chest. Officials say he later died from his injuries.
Brewer’s former girlfriend, Caprice Sanders, said the two lived together in Belmont and that the last time she saw him was Monday.
“He didn’t deserve that at all,” Sanders said. “He didn’t deserve to get stabbed and killed.”
Sanders said Brewer moved from Milwaukee to the Bronx five years ago and had been staying with her. She added that his family called from back home, remembering him as a hardworking father who worked as an assistant superintendent and a security guard.
“He was all jokes and fun to me,” family members told News 12 on the phone. “He was just a great person.”
Sanders said returning to their apartment without Brewer has been overwhelming.
“He didn’t deserve to die like that,” she said. “Nobody deserves to die like that.”
Police say they are searching for two people in connection with the stabbing. Brewer’s loved ones are urging anyone involved to turn themselves in. Tenants in the area described an eerie silence following the deadly incident.
