It wasn’t birds or planes filling the sky over Washington Street in Dumbo Friday evening, it was elephants.

Thousands of small, toy elephants parachuted down in the annual Dumbo Drop, one of the borough’s most adorable fundraisers.

The street was packed with families and friends eager to take part in the community tradition. Among them were best friends Chloe and Sloane, who called it “the most magical night in Dumbo.”

“It makes me feel excellent — or ELEPHANT!” Chloe said with a smile.

Even the adults couldn’t resist the fun.

“We have elephants galore! Yay, Dumbo,” one parent cheered.

Beyond the sky-high spectacle, the event featured balloon animals, street performers and a lively show.

Malia, a young dancer who performed during the event, described the experience as “great and perfect.”

Her mom, Sparkle Lambert, said being part of the celebration gave her a deeper appreciation for the neighborhood.

“Just the community of everybody coming together was really nice,” she said. “I’m so grateful she gets to have these experiences and see what her neighborhood is about.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit two local public schools.

While the elephants may be small, their impact is anything but.
