Downed power lines sparked a brush fire in Briarcliff Manor, according to Fire Chief Thomas Farrington.

He said the fire started along Pine Road in a heavily wooded area, raising concerns it could spread.

Farrington credited the overnight rain and wet ground for keeping it from becoming a “pretty good sized brush fire.”

Crews quickly put out the flames and packed up after the situation was under control. Con Edison is on scene repairing the lines, and Pine Road has reopened.
