Mamaroneck residents marched in solidarity with Florida students Sunday in opposition to the state’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Those involved in the march on Boston Post Road at Harbor Island Park said they are fighting for their rights as many states prepare to follow Florida's lead.

The bill states: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.” Parents would be able to sue districts over violations.

Jackie Lynch, the organizer of the event, said that the protest in Mamaroneck is to support school children nationwide who have a right to have their voices heard.
