Police are comparing notes after a second Capital One bank branch in Westchester was robbed in just two days.

Authorities say the suspect in the robbery of a Mount Vernon branch slipped the teller a note just after 6 p.m. Friday when the bank was about to close. Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong says the man communicated to the teller that he had a gun. The teller handed the man about $2,000 in cash and set off the silent alarm.

On Thursday, the man who robbed a White Plains branch also handed the teller a note and threatened violence. No one was hurt, but he did escape with $2,000. Police have not determined if the two cases are connected, but are looking at surveillance tapes.

Police say the suspect in the Mount Vernon robbery is a black man in his late 30s or early 40s, is about 6 feet tall and wore a blue baseball cap with an emblem, khaki pants, tan checkered shirt and dark shoes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mount Vernon police.
