While it may seem as though Richard Thomas has the election for Mount Vernon mayor all but decided, one candidate isn't backing down in her campaign.
Councilwoman Deborah Reynolds, running on the Conservative Party line, was kicked off the ballot in the Democratic primary because of invalid petition signatures.
She is convinced she has the right ideas and experience to be the city's next mayor.
"People should vote for me because I am the person that has been fighting for them over the past four years for their quality of life and for their lower taxes," Reynolds says.
Thomas had hoped to avoid a general election race, but he's back on the campaign trail because Reynolds is refusing to step aside.
State Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson is on the Working Families Party line, but officials on her staff say she is still deciding if she will campaign in the general election.
