Hudson Valley drivers heading into the city may now pay more.
New York's congestion pricing tolling plan officially went into effect on Sunday.
Congestion pricing applies to drivers who enter the Congestion Relief Zone, which includes streets and avenues in Manhattan south of and including 60th Street, according to the MTA.
While there are some exemptions and discounts available, most passenger cars that enter the zone will be tolled $9 during the peak period if they're using an E-ZPass to pay.
Passenger cars that use an E-ZPass to enter the zone during the overnight period will pay $2.25.
The new toll received mixed reactions.
"[It's] bad for the drivers, bad for the people," one Manhattan resident said.
Another Manhattan resident said, "I'm reserving judgement."
Another person said the move is "absolutely horrible...[because] it's a nightmare [that] only benefits the rich."
