The City of Yonkers says it is cracking down on dog waste.
"It's quite disgusting to come out and see all the poop all over your sidewalks," said a Yonkers resident.
Mayor Mike Spano says cleaning up after your dog isn't optional, it's the law.
There have been a total of 212 tickets issued between February 2025 until now.
Complaints about dog waste have doubled from this time last year.
"I have two daughters, and we went to church on Wednesday, and we couldn't even walk. We're tiptoeing, we're like, 'Oh nom be careful'. I'll pick them up, move them around, trying to dodge it. But it's everywhere," said Yonkers resident Dereck Aveiga.
Some people believe that this is just typical during the winter time.
Others say it's all about responsibility and being mindful of your neighbors.
"I make sure I always have my doggy bags," said Yonkers resident Pasquale Firelli.
In 2022, the City of Yonkers amended its code to make property owners responsible for removing dog waste.
Violations carry fines of up to $1,500.
