A White Plains man has died after crashing into a utility pole in Yonkers.

Police say Joseph Fragano, 46, was driving a late model Buick sedan when he sideswiped another vehicle on Central Park Avenue, right in front of the Cross County Shopping Center around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fragano then crashed into a utility pole causing a transformer to land on top of it.  Fragano was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Some homes in the area lost power for a while, but utility crews have been able to restore power.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but police say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious or criminal in nature.
